hi magical people,
i ended my last newsletter by saying that i hoped to have better news to share with you in my next stardust note.
well, i do!
a few days ago, i received an advance copy of the you are your own fairy tale series bound collection in the mail.
as an author, seeing my books/decks in print for the first time never gets old. it doesn’t matter that i’ve done this about a dozen times in the last six years—the magic never fades. i haven’t been able to stop staring at it, holding it, & flipping through it for days.
as difficult as it was, i held off posting anything about it on social media so i could show you first.
my stars, look at that cover!
jessica roux did a fantastic job making it appear like an old book of fairy tales taken straight off a bookshelf in someone’s woodland cottage.
though it’s difficult to convey through a photograph, there’s actually a gorgeous white/silver foil detail behind the title as well as the three series illustrations. (there were concerns that the fancy gold designs were too thin & delicate to foil properly. i don’t know much about that side of book design, but i’ll take what i can get when it comes to foil!)
the endpapers are gold to match the fancy designs on the cover. there’s also a blue ribbon to mark your place as you read, which will definitely be necessary, since it’s nearly 500 pages, making it my longest book yet. (yes, i’m still counting it even if it contains multiple previously-published books!)
finally, here’s the back of the book, which features a description written in collaboration with my team at andrews mcmeel. personally, i’m obsessed with how the gold designs hug the barcode. i’ve seen that done on other books during my many bookstore adventures & i’ve always wanted it done on one of mine.
the you are your own fairy tale series bound collection also includes an exclusive, never-before-seen introduction written by moi, but i’ve decided that i’m not going to include a sneak peek here.
the first time you read it, i want the book to be in your hands.
writing this series has been one of the greatest joys in my career as well as my life, & i’m so happy i was able to make this bound edition happen. to echo what my agent said when she received her copy: this feels like a collector’s edition. i have to agree. it’s really that special.
but it’s more than just how pretty it is; it’s also the fact that this doesn’t feel like only my book.
it feels like yours, too.
our book.
if you hadn’t supported my “women are some kind of magic” series the way you did, i wouldn’t have gotten to this beautiful moment. “thank you” simply can’t cover it, but i’ll say it anyway, because you deserve to hear it: thank you.
aside from the introduction, there’s no new content to be found inside of you are your own fairy tale. however, i did get to fix some typos i’ve been wanting to fix for a while, especially in break your glass slippers, which was a major relief. we also played with the margins in icy crown & storybook heart a bit to make them smaller & match the compact style found in glass slippers. overall, everything is just a lot more polished now.
i can’t wait for december 20th!!!
if you post a photo of my books or oracle deck (or anything inspired by them) on one of your socials, make sure to tag it with #stardustnotes for the chance to get featured in the newsletter in the future!
talk soon!!! :)
laced with love,
amanda
