hello magical person,

my TENTH poetry collection hits shelves today!!!

she followed the moon back to herself was written during a time where i was positively overflowing with poetic inspiration, especially after fully shifting gears to non-fiction witchy projects & not writing a poetry collection for a while.

it was like coming back home in the best possible way.

it was also written almost entirely during national poetry month in 2023—that’s april, if you’re unfamiliar.

writing a poem a day, as many poets do each april, can be fun but still kind of exhausting, even for someone who’s written a bunch of poems in their lifetime & participated in the challenge once before. despite that, i think everyone—experienced poet or not—should try it at least once for the sake of nurturing their creativity!

don’t worry, you have almost half a year to prepare. ;)

for my tenth collection, i felt pressured to do things differently than i have before; luckily, mixing things up came naturally to me. unlike most of my previous collections, moon is not based on an already-established fairy tale, myth, paranormal story, archetype, or anything like that. it’s still magical because, hello, it’s me, but it’s woven together by a small story i crafted using one main piece of inspiration: my life.

the story isn’t just about the words i wrote, either—it’s equally about the illustrations, all of which were not only very intentional but beautifully done. this was my first time working with the lovely vylirium, & as you’ll soon find out, it won’t be the last! (more on that in an upcoming newsletter, so stay tuned . . .)

moon will be my last release for 2024. i still can’t believe there were FIVE total. thank you, from the bottom of my tired poetess heart, for joining me on this chaotic af journey. i have a yet-to-be-announced release for 2025 (hint in the paragraph above), but rest assured, it will be a much more calm year. i badly need one lol.

with that said, we all deserve to experience a calm 2025, so don’t forget to vote blue, if you’re able to vote & haven’t already!!
